Just Be Still

The older I get and the more I meditate, the more powerful this message of Psalm 46:10 becomes:

Be still and know that I am God

All the ancient wisdom traditions and religions believe this.  It does not matter if you are Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim or even if you consider yourself an Atheist or Agnostic.  If you want to be at peace, if you want true power, and if you want abundance and love, you must learn to be still and connect with the source of power.  Just like you have to be connected to a power source to connect to the Internet.

Suppose you don’t know whether or not to switch jobs.  If you are simply angry at someone or frustrated because your boss will not listen to your suggestions, then you are operating from a place of negativity, weakness and fear.  If you do find another job, you may very well find yourself in a similar situation.  On the other hand, if you feel like you can not learn and grow if you remain with the same company and decide it is time to look for a better opportunity for success, you are operating from a positive position of strength and love.  In this case, you have a better chance of finding a position that you will find fulfilling.

Only actions that come from love will be beneficial to yourself and others.  Any behavior resulting from fear will have negative consequences.  To make sure that we are operating from a position of love and strength, we must learn to stop and be still in order to relax your body and quiet your mind.  Only then can we make an informed, intelligent, and mature decision.

I am reminded this chart by Martha Beck:

FEAR

Always feels bad
Motivates grasping
Seizes control
Insists on certainty
Needs everything

LOVE

Always feels good
Motivates liberation
Relaxes control
Accepts uncertainty
Needs nothing
